Department of Green Spaces and Forestry

The Green Spaces and Forestry Department is responsible for all public green spaces, trees, playgrounds and the Rodgau municipal forest.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Planning, new construction and maintenance of green spaces, playgrounds and sports fields as well as forest recreational facilities (excluding cemeteries)
• Management of the municipal forest
• Inspection and maintenance of trees in the city centre (excluding cemeteries) including the control of pests such as the oak processionary moth
• Care and maintenance of surface waters and the Rodau river
• Maintenance of urban water-bound (= unpaved) paths
• Installation of dog waste bag dispensers
• Development and implementation of the Rodaupark concept and the Rodauweg concept together with the Department of Urban Planning and Environment
  • Rodaupark concept = long-term green belt along the Rodau
