The next Free Comic Book Day will take place on 9 May at the Nieder-Roden public library. Free Comic Book Day is a special day for everyone who loves comics - and for anyone who might want to discover them. Once a year, bookshops, comic shops and libraries in Germany, Austria and Switzerland give away lots of great comics. The Nieder-Roden public library is once again taking part. From 10 am to 1 pm, every child can choose two comics and take them home for free. Visitors can also look forward to an exciting supporting programme. They can get active at the button machine, which transforms self-designed pictures into personalised badges in no time at all. A selection of comic motifs for colouring in is also available. A creative workshop from the "Cozy Crafting" series with graduate designer Svetlana Olenik will be held specially for Comic Book Day. Children and young people aged 10 to 15 will use colourful paper to create collage portraits based on illustration styles from comics and anime films. With scissors, glue and lots of imagination, a very personal portrait is created - with a pet or favourite character if desired. It's also a great idea for two people to portray each other. The cost of the course is 10 euros and includes all materials, drinks and snacks. Places are limited, registration is required by email to buecherei@rodgau.de or by telephone on 06106 693-1322. The Free Comic Book Day offers a great opportunity for children to discover their love of reading and be inspired by the diversity of comic art.
