Jane Austen - a reading evening with music to mark her 250th birthday

A moving evening in honour of the great writer Jane Austen awaited guests at the Nieder-Roden public library, Puiseauxplatz 3, on 4 November at 7 pm. Susanne Gertler will take her audience back to the United Kingdom of Great Britain in the Regency era. The audience can look forward to excerpts from the most famous Austen novel "Pride and Prejudice" and gain an insight into British life in the 19th century. The reading will be accompanied by atmospheric music on the guitar, played by Andreas Held. The programme combines literature, music and history and will delight all literature and Jane Austen fans and those who want to become one. Jane Austen from the United Kingdom is celebrating her 250th birthday. Born on 16 December 1775 as the daughter of a vicar, Jane Austen grew up with access to literature and education compared to many other girls of her time. Jane devoted a large part of her life to writing. Although she died at the age of 41, she published 4 works. Further works were published after her death. Her novel "Pride and Prejudice" in particular brought her international fame. To this day, the author continues to inspire with her timeless themes, which she brings closer to the reader in a light but witty way.
